I currently work as the Social Media and Video Editor for WTOP News, the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning radio station serving the District of Columbia. Since joining the WTOP newsroom in June 2022, I have accomplished the following so far:

  • Increased the TikTok following from under 3,000 to over 39,000

  • Increased the average number of video views per month on TikTok from over 31,000 to over 1.8 million

  • Increased the Instagram following from around 29,000 to over 82,000

  • Increased the average number of engagements per month on Instagram from approximately 15,000 to over 181,000

  • Increased the average number of video views per month on YouTube from around 82,000 to over 540,000

I previously worked as the Audience Growth & Engagement Editor of the D.C.-based alt-weekly, Washington City Paper, where I managed the news organization’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts. In this role, I spearheaded the creation of the D.C. statehood newsletter and also the redesign of the City Lights newsletter. Additionally, I assisted with live-tweeting updates from D.C. Council meetings on local legislation on topics that included cannabis, efforts to clean D.C.’s waterways, redistricting, and more, plus Senate meetings related to D.C. statehood, D.C. football team announcements, and other notable local happenings, resulting in a surge of engagements and follows for the Twitter/X account.

I am skilled with filming on both DSLR cameras and smart phones. I am also adept at analyzing data from Facebook Insights and Twitter/X Analytics to create proposals for deliberate social media strategies. I utilize Google Analytics in order to monitor high- and low-performing articles as well as sources of web traffic. To create social media assets, I use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, and After Effects as well as Canva.
